Wormhole Wrangler

At fifteen, Angus MacDougal knows its up to him if his family’s horse ranch is going to survive. When the Civil War breaks out his father and grandfather are presumed dead, but Cash MacDougal’s dark secret remains hidden in the barn. That secret has brought an alien tracker to the MacDougal ranch, a solitary specialized creature, a dominant bloodthirsty carnivore. When Angus finds Cash’s secret he is thrust into an unexpected journey. Unaware of what has happened to him he finds himself in Jim Manyhorses encampment. An Indian shaman, Jim understands Angus’s predicament and provides help to keep this tracker at bay for a period of years. Once Angus grows into a man, Jim’s influence wanes, now Angus must learn to control his own destiny. As he bounces through time, he is acutely aware the alien tracker follows. Elle Cates is a modern educated woman with a PhD in physics and behavioral sciences. A no nonsense person, Elle carries the wounds inflicted on her in her childhood by an alcoholic father and a mother in denial. Currently working for the FBI as a junior agent at the Flagstaff office, she was put in charge of four recent murders, all purposefully placed in an empty room at the historic Monte Vista Hotel, with every drop of blood drained from their bodies. When another murder that has the same MO turns up on Federal land near Tucson AZ, Elle is sent to see the remains. On the way she nearly crashes into a black pick-up truck that crosses the highway out of control. On inspection, she finds an unconscious Angus MacDougal at the wheel, recovering from a terrible wound. Elle doesn’t know who he is and she doesn’t know why, but she trusts her instincts and decides to help Angus sensing he is involved, but is not the killer she’s after. After Angus regains consciousness, they soon realize a mutual attraction. Elle eventually comes to terms with Angus, who he is, where he’s from, and together they figure out what’s going on. Elle’s deep understanding of physics allows her to think out of the box and to not discount time-travel. They figure out a way to defeat this predator and in the process they each learn how to let go of their own past, to love easily, and live life to the fullest, no matter where in time they are. 246 pages.
